l can not really tell till l go back to my oral surgen this wednesday. l had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed 5 days ago. my dentist said it was ok to eat after 72 hours soft foods including hamburgers but l forgot burger king burgers has poppy seeds..UGHH!! now my lower jaw on the right side where my tooth was removed is aching..not REALL bad but it is really annoying..is there any way to tell if it is a dry socket or maybe it is just symptoms of having surgery ..sore..and all that. can rinsing with warm salt water help remove anything stuck in there if thats the case?? help please! thank you
or am l just really paranoid? either way id like to have some thoughts to give me peace of mind
ok l understand that..i am talking about POPPY seeds in hamburgers..my dentist was not specific..i should of asked but l did not..i wasnt thinking about it till l ate a hamburger with poppy seeds..my cell is broke and l cannot see him till wednesday

FYI,
if dry socket will form it is 24-48 hours post extraction. Since the oral surgeon saw you after 72 hours and said all was well, YOU DON'T HAVE DRY SOCKET.
Dry socket pain ia EXCRUCIATING and if you had it you WILL NEVER forget it. Some aching is not unusual.

Yes - you will be fine and dandy. If you had a dry socket you'd be climing up the wall and rolling around on the floor. Never had one myself, but l hear they're BAD.

What you did was just bang the crap out of that abused tissue with poppy seeds. No more poppy seeds.

When you pull out teeth like that, you not only have holes in your gums but in your bone of your jaw.

So be careful

u would feel lots of pain if u had a dry socket. l had a tooth pulled & l was worried about dry socket since l smoke. u can just use the tip of ur tongue to see if there is a hole where ur jaw bone could be exposed. if it feels slightly mushy, but solid & slightly dented in then u r fine. a clot should have formed pretty quickly after the extraction. dry socket is when it has been removed. u could have someone shine a flashlight & take a look for you. at this point u can rinse with warm salt water. u can always call the office after hours & have someone call u back, but i'm sure that u r fine.

******if u ate a hamburger after 72 with sesame seeds then u should be fine. the clot has formed over the hole so nothing can get in. u can rinse around, but other than that l would just leave it alone. l kindof freaked out about my clot staying put.


*********the mouth heals up so quickly. at this point i'm almost pretty sure u have already a few layers of tissue forming over the clot. the body is a wonderful thing

my stitch looked like a fishing line. l ended up pulling it out the same day because it came undone. if u do not have someone to look at it for u then u can always get a light & snap a picture of it so u can see better if that is possible. gl

l had a dry socket after getting my wisdome teeth pulled. The pain was terrible, especially if air would hit it. l am sure that if you had one there would be no doubt in your mind what it was.

dry socket is when you have sever pain & mouth smells. Any thing stuck into the socket will cause infection, you need to gargle with warm saline water & take your prescribed antibiotics & pain killers. Not only poppy seeds even rice can cause dry socket.
