l HAVE very crooked teeth, and im getting braces next month. HOW LONG do l have to leave my braces on? (or does it depend on the person) ??

It depends on the person.
l had mine for two years, but l know people that have had them for a lot longer than that.

at least 2 to 3 years. l conned my ortho into taking them off 3 months early

depends on the person. if you have not already, they will take x-rays and molds to determined the severity of your teeth and they will determine your treatment time

l had mine for only 1 year. but my dentist said that my teeth straightened up faster than most of his patients.It usually depends on the person, and how crooked your teeth are.

It will all depend on how fast ur teeth move & if u follow ur orthodontist is instructions closely. There r techiniques that can be done to move them faster such as a power chain that the orthodontist can use. But let the orthodontist make the decision as to when u need that. l suggest leaving them on as long as he/she suggests & then once u get them off wearing ur retainer every day as instructed. It will all depend on how closely u follow ur orthodontist is instructions as to how long u will have to wear braces. In the mean time u can make it fun by picking different color elastics each month depending on ur taste in colors. Such as school colors, favorite team colors, favorite colors, or if u do not prefer a color u can get clear. Change up every month to keep it from getting boring. Hi, & l am sorry to hear ur getting braces -you're not alone-. Well, l myself can not tell u how long u will have braces many factors play into it one is the severity: l had a number of problems with my teeth & l am in my 3rd year of braces. Another is contributing factors: the big reason behind my 3 years of braces was what they call a 'tongue-thruster' l was not correctly using my mouth. l now go to a speech pathologist who has worked wonders in a matter of 2 months. You may have a contributing speech problem that may not be recognized until later on. A third is: rubberbands. If they give u rubberbands WEAR THEM. It does not matter if it is Days, Night, 12 hours, or 24 hours wear those rubberbands whenever u have to this will speed the process along so much if u do. But, u may not require them.

Do not worry. braces r not some catastrophic thing that will end ur life. Most kids today -I'd guess well over 50%- have/ need braces. You will hate them at first but, after 3 years they do not bother me; l do not give them a second look. You will survive. Hope l helped.

Usually it ranges from 6 months-4 years. But the most common is 2 years. l had mine for about 1 3/4 years. All people are different and some take more time to get the perfect, straight smile.

Depends on the person. l had only a slight overbite and l had to wear my braces for a little over a year and a half. Im guessing if you have REALLY crooked teeth you've got 3 to 4 years to wear them.
