Is rubbing off the side of my tongue and also there is food going underneath it,had four bottom front teeth removed today am still numb on my chin,and in shock still,how will l get used to this,have a top front tooth denture and its not like this.please any help with this,will be very grateful..

l had the four top teeth removed & now have a plate.

At first l thought I'd never get used to it because it did not fit properly. But if u have just had ur teeth removed, ur gums r going to be swollen. After a few days they settle down & the plate will fit better.

The gums will continue to shrink & in 6 months, ur dentist will replace it or adjust it. Mine is being replaced in October.

l use Fixadent to help it stay in place. There is one available that forms a seal around the plate to prevent food getting under it. All major chemists sell it.

You will get used to it, but they r not like having ur own teeth. My dentist said l could have implants if l had a spare £20k. Or there is a type that clips around ur existing teeth. My mate got that on the NHS.

They should fit as close to your gums as possible. Since you just had the extractions and the denture was made in advance it is guess work at best. Go back to the dentist and ask that they correct this and also where it is rubbing your tongue. It could also be that since it is new you are inclined to play with it.

The dentist can work these bugs out for you.
