l got my career diploma in Dental Assisting through Penn Foster almost two months ago, and l am still without a job. The main reason is due to the fact that l do not have experience, but another big factor is the fact that l do not have my x-ray or CPR certification. l have asked several people in the area (including the assistants in my own dental office) where l can get these certifications, and no one has been able to give me any . All l have gotten is ''Go to your local community college. They might be able to tell you where you need to go.'' l have done on-line searches out the wazoo, and still have nothing.

If you can tell me where l can get my x-ray and CPR certifications, it would be greatly appreciated. l live in Hampton, VA.

not sure about x-ray, but CPR is offered through most park districts, or recreation departments. it usually takes 3-4 nights and costs less than $50.

l do not understand how you got certified as a DA without xray training. it is part of the process. Is that one of the schools you do at home? You cannot really take a general dental xray training course. Try and get an intership at a local dentist office. (another requirement of certification by the way) 160 hours of free work. CPR you can get at any Red Cross or a place like that. You can get certified in a day.

l got my CPR cert from the Red Cross.

l am in school myself, l can not tell you for sure where the radiology certificate is from yet, but l assume it is a state health board of some sort.

The CPR on the other hand you can get in a number of places, the American Lung Association, American Heart Association or the Red Cross are good places to call to ask about that.
