I am 17. When l was 8, l got braces for the first time. l was young and l did not take care of them properly and I'd always take my rubber bands out at night because they hurt and at the time l cared more about comfort. l ended up getting them taken off when l was almost 10. They did help straighten my teeth a little bit, but they took them off because they were worried and figured they had put them on when l was too young. I am self-concious about my teeth now, and l have been since l was in middle school. Can l get braces for a 2nd time? Will my insurace cover it? I am worried because i'm 17 now and I am going to be the only person in my class graduating wih braces, if l get them. advice?

l do not know about insurance. but you can have braces twice. I've had them twice too. second time l was 23. and l just removed them a week ago. l am 26 now. l never had a problem with them. although l was the only one my age (most of the time) but everyone found them cute. my aunt put them at the age of 48..
if u have a problem, solve it as soon as u can. NOW is the time :)

Well if u feel that concious about ur teeth then get them. i have always been really concious about mine to the point where l dont smile but l have braces & l do not care what l look like now, its what i'm going to look like in a year. Do not worry about graduating i'm the same & i'm the only one with braces so l would not worry too much as i'm not. Like l said its what l look like in a years time. And i'm not sure on the insurance bit because i'm british & its free over here. Good Luck x

You can deffinately get them twice. Two of my cousins got them twice & my sister had them for five years. l think ur insurance will cover it, call & make sure before if u r worried. Maybe since u r worried about graduating with braces, ask ur parents or guardian about invisiline. They r invisble braces, u can wear at night or all the time. They r clear braces, & the r custom made just for you! l hope everything works out well, & just think, when its all over, u will look more beautiful than before!

You're never too old to get braces! My grandmother got them in her 50's, & l had a friend who got them at age 27. You're insurance should still cover it - regardless if you're on ur parents insurance or ur own.
There r other options other than the awesome shiny metal ones we had when we were little. They have some that r actually clear, & the new ones (which my friend used) that r actually mouthpieces (think like a mouth guard or a whitening tray) that u wear & can take out whenever. l think these r a little more expensive, but to me, it would be worth it. (Just think - u could leave them in most of the time, but take them out for special occasions like prom, senior pics, graduation, dates, etc.)
Just visit ur dentist, & ask about costs & prices & things like that. They will be able to give u all of the info before u commit. Good luck!

im in the same boat, l use to have braces but they were removed way too early & l have been so self conscious about my teeth since, & l shy away from smiling & allowing my true personality to come out because im embarrassed about them. u could get braces for a second time, but there r other options also, like the invisible braces, veneers, & if they r not too crocked u could use a retainer with the bar over the teeth to straighten them out. talk to ur dentist or orthodontist about what would be best for u & then see what ur insurance will be able to cover
