l drank alcohol and ate dinner 2 weeks agoand woke up hte next morning with severe swelling around my extraction site of my lower right molar, the swelling went away after a day. But last night l drank alcohol and ate again and the swelling happened again for a day. It gets to where the gum and nearly covering my remaining molar. l have not been able to get to a doctor during the swelling either time. Does alcohol cause something like this? Is it some bizarre dry socket? Is food getting lodged in it? Please help my half chipmunk face

It could be the alcohol causing it to swell. You should have a flushy thingy ( l am pretty sure that is the technical term) to flush out the place where ur tooth was extracted. After u eat or drink alcohol, flush it out with salt water or a mixture of antiseptic mouthwash & water. Avoid getting food or alcohol around the area. It is not dry socket if u do not have the specific symptoms of it, & if it is not constant. If it becomes constant pain, it could be infection, or if u feel it every single time u eat, & in that case u should go to the oral surgeon immediately. But if it just happens with a combination of alcohol & food, then u probably just need to stop drinking until it is fully healed, take some Aleve, put ice on ur cheek. it takes dry socket 24-48 hours to form post extraction, so you do not have that. You may have food stuck within the healing socket.
Alcohol wo not cause this, Use a syringe or turkey baster to gently flush out with lukewarm salt water.

Like the other two people said, use a plastic syringe filled with warm salt water to clean out the extraction sites. This is really helpful for getting tiny food particles that might of gotten stuck in there. Also, use a pack of peas for the swelling. The great thing about a bag of peas is that they mold to the shape of your face, so you do not feel like you're laying on a ice pack that is rock hard.
If the swelling hurts, take a couple Ibuprofens.
