Ok so erlier while eating pizza, Lemme just say it is the tooth that is next to the tooth next to the 2 front top teeth. So if you go right from the righest top front tooth count that one as one then the tooth next to it as 2 and the 3rd one, thats the one! So l was eating pizza and l felt it chip. l looked in the mirror and saw it was chiped near the gum. Now l was reading online how the gum could be infected. Right now l am 17 and have no dental insurance because my mom just quit her job few days ago. So we have none. l was talking to my friend and l said l would go get help from a dental school or something and she referred to me as a lab rat. Then l explained l would rather be a lab rat then seeing if my gum gets infected or what not. l live in Honolulu, Hawaii.
So what do l do? Does heald college do things like fillers or stuff like that?
Also l should add. l only started to start brushing my teeth lately because l knew my teeth were bad and l wanted to change that. Also the reason my mom had to quit they pretty much gave her a altomatum quit or be fired so she is moving back here all together but that isnt gonna be awhile so that is why l have to do something now.

you shoul have a community dental health facility that will take care of you and base your bill on your or your moms income.

It is hard to pay when you do not have insurance; trust me l know. In the end it is far cheaper to get your teeth taken care of as soon as possible cause it just gets worse and more expensive. A dental school is not a bad idea, they usually are cheap and not too bad of work. Just go get it fixed before you regret it!

l dont really know. All l can say is try to get the money to pay for the dentist. Even though its expensive its far better than having a gum infection. Maybe you could get a job.

Use some good mouthwash every day with antiseptic in it, Your mouth heals very quickly l wouldnt worry about it. How did you chip it near the gum eating pizza?

Not that many people have dental insurance actually. l just had a root canal done, & l could not immediately afford to pay it off all at once, so the dentist said that l could pay it off gradually. You should get ur teeth examined by a dentist & see if they will let u do this. You should definitely brush ur teeth regularly, & l mean twice a day when l say this. And u should definitely floss at night because u can get a gum disease if u don't! If u did not brush ur teeth before now, then l am sure they r in really bad shape. Just brushing ur teeth regularly is not going to fix that! You need to see a dentist.

You gots to brush ur teeth. l brushed my teeth two times a day for most of my life & l still have dental problems as an adult. It is not worth it, & the problems just get worse as u get older- AND MORE EXPENSIVE!!

l had a similar problem in the past & l found a dentist willing to take payments over a few months. You could try that, or if u r a student u may be able to get some sort of coverage or deal that way. What ever u do, do something. If u wait it will be much harder to deal with, more costly, more likely that u could lose the tooth altogether, or that u could get really sick. You can get very ill from infected gums or a broken tooth. Just go to a dentist & ask what they can do. You're 17- offer to trade the dentist for part time hours filing or helping with office work. Get creative & u will be able to solve this!

You mom might still have her health insurance until the end of the month. it might not be too late to use it.

If not. try the dental school. if they accept u any procedures will be done under the supervision of a licensed dentist.
Will they accept you? Do not know. never tried.

Other than that. call a dentist office & ask what kind of payment procedures they have. First find out what an ''evaluation'' will cost & if u can afford it see that dentist immediately to get an idea of what kind of work needs to be done & how expensive it will be.
You r 17 & should be able to get a job yourself. Maybe it is time to do so. Then u can make arrangements with the dentist office & with any luck they will let u pay it off.
Do not think getting a job that offers dental insurance will help right away. Most dental insurance nowadays requires that u pay in for a year before u can use it & it will most likely only cover about a $1000 a year with u paying a deductible & a copayment for each procedure.

The dentist will most likely give u a big lecture about not brushing ur teeth or seeing a dentist regularly. Also be aware that he will need to fix other things than just the chipped tooth. You probably have cavities that need to be filled & an overall cleaning will need to be done.

being a lab rat is not all bad. Students work on patients under the supervision. And it usually cost far less than going to the dentist.
