l recently had a root canal roughly 4-5 months ago on one my back teeth. l didnt put a cap on it as l could barely afford the root canal and couldnt afford an additional 900 dollars. Yestarday a chunk of tooth broke and luckily it was from the root canal tooth. My dillema is they wanna put a crown on it for 900 but l still cant really afford it, there is no root in the tooth and its at the very back.The question l have is, should l get it crowned ( costing me 900 which l cant really afford) ? or should l use it how it is since theres no pain then when the time comes get it removed ? what is the cost of an extraction ?
Appreciate the advice so far. l forgot to add that l have never had one pulled, this would be the first out it is only 1 way at the back they reason for wanting to crown it is because all thats left of it anyways is a portion of the front from the root canal. l believe id have 0 to no problems chewing without it

It will depend on where you go. So call around for the best price. Maybe you can find a dentist office that will extract it for you and they should be cheaper then an oral surgeon. However sometimes you can not avoid it, if you have impacted teeth.

Sorry to hear about your tooth. l know l am sensitive when anything goes wrong with me teeth. Depending on how many teeth you have already had pulled, should you get that one removed. If you have enough back teeth to chew with then l would say go for it, get it pulled expecially if you cant afford it. Chances are you will continue to have problems with that tooth and eventually it will need to be pulled anyway. l think extractions are approx $100 to $150.

An extraction at the dental surgery where l worked could cost u up to $200. Some places may cost more or less depending on whether or not they want to x-ray it & charge u a regular consultation fee as well as the actual extraction fee.

Even if there is no pain from the tooth it may cause an infection if there r places where bacteria & food can get into any gaps or cracks. l would advise simply having ur tooth pulled before u have to go through any more toothache & hassle. A crown will look good & give u the use of ur tooth for a few more years but there is no guarantee that it wont break along the track somewhere & u will have to have it pulled anyway.
