l was wearing the Essix retainer (clear plastic one) continuously as dictated by my orthodontist. But l have to take it out to eat and l put them in my pocket (lets face it, no-one wants to look at them while they eat) Anyway, l got up to leave and walked around a bit, later l remember that they're there but alas, only the bottom set is.
l looked EVERYWHERE but l could not find them.
So l also have a fixed wire behind both the bottom and top teeth, do l need to replace the Essix retainer at a cost of £100 ($200) or is the fixed wire enough to keep them in place.
NB: I am 17 and have two wisdom teeth growing in on my bottom set of teeth. And the bottom set were te ones that needed most work (l still have the bottom retainer)

l would just call up the orthodontist & ask. Were the retainers a part of u treatment in regards that u still needed them to fix ur teeth straight? Or is it post treatment?

But in my opinion l think it would be fine since u have the fixed wire. l lost my retainer the first day l got it & never went back to get a new one. l only had a fixed wire on my bottom & not the top. Needless to say my top teeth moved & here l am with braces on the top teeth again. But my bottom teeth r completely straight after 8 years since l had my braces off. Had my wisdom teeth come out & they're still straight thanks to the fixed wire.
