I am about to get my braces off and I've all of a sudden gotten a small gap between my two front teeth, l was wondering if once l get my retainer on, would it kinda close the gap? Some people have said this is what would happen because of the tightening, but others said no... Does anyone know the answer?!

You should not be getting your braces off until the gap is closed. But a retainer is made to help keep your teeth in place once your braces come off.

If your concerned talk to your orthodontist. it depends how you define ''small'' because it might not even be an issue. but a retainer is not about correction, it is about keeping the position of your teeth from the braces correction. make sure you wear your retainer as directed by your orthodontist to ensure your teeth wo not shift back.

Both types of retainers can fix minor stuff like gaps. the metal bar type is better at that though. Do not worry!

They can move a certain tooth a little bit, or ''retain'' your teeth in the proper positions after braces..
Call your orthodontist about the gap.
