Can my dentist charge me the cancellation fee for the appointment which was reserved by his office and was not confirmed by me?

do not u remember ur last dental appointment or cleaning? You probably set it up then. Dentists & hygienists do not randomly put names in the schedule.

Most likely u set up ur next appointment at ur last cleaning. Most dental offices also send reminder cards/postcards within the month of ur cleaning AND most dental offices call the night before to remind you-a courtesy call.

So three times u were notified. If u miss, then YES u will have to pay the cancellation fee. But remember, even if u did not get the postcard or call, these r just friendly reminders. Your an adult & should be responsible enough to remember to put it in ur calendar book.

BUT MOST OFFICES WILL WORK WITH YOU!!! If u have never had a broken appointment, they will most likely forgive & forget the cancellation fee if u make it to ur next scheduled appointment.

BUT if u have MULTIPLE MISSED/BROKEN APPOINTMENTS, THEN CONSIDER a bill an indirect request for u to stop wasting their time & find a new office.

Yes, unfortunately they can. l worked in a dental office for 4 years and that was our ''office policy'' Once you make the appointment and do not cancel within 24 hours, they can charge you. Try calling them and saying that you had a family emergency or that you were sick. We did not charge if the patient said that.
