I've had a herbst appliance for one year now and they will be taking it off tomorrow. Does it hurt? Or is it just a weird feeling? I am kind of scared what should l expect?

Does not hurt a single bit. The only weird thing about it is the freedom your jaw has once its off. :P
You will start talking, and will be amazed how far your mouth will move when you say certain words. XD
