l just got my braces taken off and have had my retainers on for about a week. often, when l have my mouth closed, l get sharp pains in my two front teeth which l get when my teeth get sensitive. but l am getting this pain when l have my retainers on. is it because of my retainers or is it my teeth? l have also been using whitening gel is that a factor?

It could be the whitening gel, l got terrible pains ''in'' my teeth when l used it. l used vitamin E oil and it helped.

Hmm l dont think its cause of whitening gel, but its normal for ur tteeth to feel wierd & hurt only a little bit after having braces. Believe it or not they r still adjusting even without the braces, so yea that might hurt, also if it feels strange at the top that may mean the root of the tooth could be slightly exposed, the root is a dark yellow color at the top of ur tooth. If the pain persists or its just too much to handle definitely call ur orthodontist, they can tell u over the phone whats wrong or u can come in & check. Its standard for teeth to hurt after braces tho, l wouldnt worry too much, maybe the retainer could be too tight also adn u can ask for an adjustment.
