l had braces 3 times for 5 years each.

anything hard, or sharp. proberly the best foods are things like ice cream and cakes. not all that healthy but you can always run it off when your mouths feeling much better.

It matters what ortho you go to

well ive got braces on rite now and just try to stay away from candies such as skittles, m&ms, gobstoppers, etc. mainly try and use mouthe wash in the morning and after dinner. brush well.

For the first few days, avoid eating huge chunks of food. Those hard ones like cookies. (Though, l ate potato chips on the 2nd day after l got my braces =X )
Do not eat bread too, as u will have a hard time brushing ur teeth after all.

You will feel uncomfortable for the first 3 to 4 days or perhaps a week. It is normal though. Candies & chocolate r strongly not recommended to be eaten when you've got ur braces on. If u insist, brush u teeth thoroughly to prevent tooth decay.

If u really cannot stand the uncomfortable braces, u can place wax over it. It will also help u to get use to have braces faster. About a week plus later, u should get use to having braces on.

I've got my braces on 23rd September 2008. I've been wearing braces for 18 days & the it feels perfectly fine for me. My next appointment will be on 20th October 2008, which l am very keen to the upcoming checkup.
