I am about to get my wisdom teeth pulled out, any one got any suggestions on how to deal

l told to do 10 minutes on with ice, 10 minutes off with ice. Continue that it helps a lot. Take ur meds & do not try to rush eating certain foods. Stick to liquids & mushy stuff. Baby food is good & so is soups. If u follow all the instructions of the dentist properly.you should heal fast & quick. l followed instructions & was better much all better in a week & was healing well. Make sure ANYTIME u eat or drink anything other than water to rinse ur mouth out with salt water.otherwise it will be a slower healing process.

have them put you under. you wake up and the teeth are out. then they give you pain pills (you will need them the first day but after that its not really so bad you need medicine for it)
DON'T drink beer when you get home, DON'T smoke cigs, those things cause naaaasty infections you do not want forming inside your gums. it can make the difference from taking 1 week to heal to 1 month.

The ice packs do not really help. Hopefully they will perscribe some 800Mg ibuprophen which will just put you to sleep until the pain wears off. Do not chew on that side. try not to sneeze or blow your nose as you may burst the stitches.

You wo not need the gauze pads after the first day. They just keep drawing more and more blood from the spot. Once the initial bleeding stops, do not use them.

Ice, ice, baby. Stay down, no activity and liquid/soft diet for the first few days. No drinking w/straw (suction may cause blood clot to dislodge and cause dry socket--very painful). Good luck.
